Study of susceptibility to vancomycin from clinical isolates of Staphylococcus aureus

چکیده
Vancomycin has been considered for over 40 years as the primary treatment option Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) strains. However, excessive, indiscriminate, or inappropriate use led to appearance of MRSA strains with intermediate resistance (VISA) and total vancomycin (VRSA) 1. In Central America, particularly in Honduras, no VRSA have reported. it is vitally important implement an epidemiological surveillance program where this isolation can be traced since its a severe public health problem last two decades 2. Susceptibility To Vancomycin In Staphylococcus Aureus Isolated From Patients Of Four University-Affiliated Hospitals In Tehran
Background and Objective: Vancomycin is frequently the antibiotic of choice for the treatment of infections caused by methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). For the last years, the incidence of vancomycin-intermediate S. aureus (VISA) and vancomycin-resistant S. aureus (VRSA) has been increased in various parts of the world. The present study ...
متن کاملReduced sensitivity of staphylococcus aureus to vancomycin
Introduction: Staphylococcus aureus is one of the most common causes of infections in hospitals and vancomycin is used for the treatment of methicillin resistant S, aureus infections. Therefore, imergence of Staphylococcus aureus with reduced sensitivity to vancomycin is a serious problem. The aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence of Staphylococcus aureus with reduced suscep...
متن کاملVancomycin Resistance Pattern of Staphylococcus Aureus among Clinical Samples
Abstract Background and Objective: Vancomycin is used for treatment of methicillin-resistant S. Aureus (MRSA) infections therefore, resistance to this antibiotic is increasing. We aimed to determine the antibiotic resistance pattern and frequency of vancomycin resistant S. Areas (VRSA) strains isolated from clinical samples. Material and Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 100 S. Aureus iso...
متن کاملVancomycin susceptibility trends and prevalence of heterogeneous vancomycin-intermediate Staphylococcus aureus in clinical methicillin-resistant S. aureus isolates.
Due to the rise in methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infections and widespread use of vancomycin, MRSA isolates with reduced susceptibility to vancomycin are emerging (i.e., MIC creep). However, the prevalence of heterogeneous vancomycin-intermediate S. aureus (hVISA) is unknown due to the difficulty in detecting this phenotype. Recently, Etest glycopeptide resistance detection...
متن کاملStaphylococcus aureus with reduced susceptibility to vancomycin.
Infections with Staphylococcus aureus with reduced susceptibility to vancomycin continue to be reported, including 2 cases caused by S. aureus isolates with full resistance to vancomycin. This review first outlines the definitions of vancomycin-intermediate S. aureus (VISA) and vancomycin-resistant S. aureus (VRSA) and risk factors for infection. Next, we describe the mechanisms of resistance a...
